meine ernte -Packaging Design

In 2022, Meine Ernte approached me to design the look for their product line. Below, I’ll walk you through, step by step, how I guided them in developing the right product packaging. 

1.+ 2. Understand & Define

I always like to start with a workshop day that clients can book with me. During this session, we tackle why you reached out to me, define a clear goal, and collaboratively develop the look, strategy, and layouts. In the Cologne area, I always prefer to hold these workshops in person. If necessary, however, the workshop can also take place via video call. For meine ernte, I visited them at their headquarters in Bobb. 

Beforehand, I already do research and create initial visual starting points. You should also be prepared to receive a small homework assignment before the appointment. These visuals are the result of the homework assignment for this project.

Why a workshop? It allows me to advise you in a focused way, helps us reach common ground much faster, and saves us time and unnecessary revision rounds.



3. Brainstorming

During the workshop day, we set ourselves the goal of developing the product packaging for the plant labels. One of the main elements was meant to be an illustration showing how the product is used. At the same time, the illustration needed to convey a sense of lightness and naturalness.

In close collaboration with the client, I developed different options while simultaneously sketching out initial layout ideas.

4. Prototype

The brainstorming phase is over — now it’s time to build the prototype. In this case, we collaboratively developed a layout for the row markers, selected typefaces, and refined the overall look. Everything was tailored to the client’s wishes and implemented directly. A clearly communicated and collaboratively developed visual direction helps avoid unnecessary revision rounds and therefore saves time. And it's more fun!
 
 

5. Test & Finish

The prototype is finished, and we were ready to adapt it for the full project. The layout is applied to the other products, and new illustrations are created for the additional product variations. We were able to adjust last inconsistencies and fine tune the layout. And with that, the project can be completed for now.

6. time for a review

The methodology and structure of the workshop day were successful. The design concept was adopted and is still being used for meine ernte products today.
